James 4:11 NLT: Don’t speak evil against each other, my dear brothers and sisters. If you criticize each other and condemn each other, then you are criticizing and condemning God’s law. But you are not a judge who can decide whether the law is right or wrong. Your job is to obey it.
One skill set every parent must learn today is to love what his/her child or children loves. Love their kind of movies, love their kind of movies, love their kind of TV and Radio shows, love their kind of music, love their kind of books. Like the pay of one terrestrial TV provider in my country puts it; “live it, love it” , indeed there is no alternative to this. Most parents make the mistake of being overly critical of the kind of things their children love, I think they even purposely make effort to find fault in it, that’s not fair! That sounds like what your child will say right? Well, I agree with your child, and I repeat it’s not fair!
Now, it’s okay if you don’t completely understand why your child likes certain things, but being overly critical of what your child likes will make your child feel unloved and misunderstood.
As long as what your child is doing is not against the laws of the land and that of God, don’t hate it and don’t be critical about it. Instead, try to pay a little more attention, you might end up liking it too.
Think & Act:
As long as what your child is doing is not against the laws of the land and that of God, don’t hate it….
Prayer:
Dear Lord, teach me to have patience with my children in Jesus’name. Amen!
